A Good English Website about Ernst Jünger

A very good english website about Ernst Jünger – which is not linked either to Jünger’s estate or to his publishers Klett-Cotta – is the one of the english scholar John King, currently living and working in Hamburg.

John King studied in Oxford and wrote a very good doctoral thesis on the early works of Ernst Jünger. This doctoral thesis was also the first academic work that included an analysis of the original war diaries of Jünger.

John King was the first researcher who had access to the original war diaries of Ernst Jünger. These original war diaries have been edited in 2010 by Helmuth Kiesel.

This doctoral thesis of John King has been translated into German by Till Kinzel.

The doctoral thesis of John King in German:

King, John, “Wann hat dieser Scheißkrieg ein Ende?” Writing and Rewriting the First World War. Übersetzt aus dem Englischen von Till Kinzel. Edition Antaios, Schnellroda 2003.

The website is in English and contains not only a lot of precise and useful information about Ernst Jünger, but also an english version of the doctoral thesis of John King as a PDF. I offer this doctoral thesis of John King with the kind permission of John King also to the readers of my blog.
